About The Kind Learner Compass
The Kind Learner Compass is a gentle UK app for parents whose children are struggling to attend school. It was built by a headteacher with 26 years of experience in primary and secondary education, who has walked alongside hundreds of families navigating Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), school anxiety and school refusal.
Why we built it
When your child can't get into school, the world shrinks. Mornings become battles, evenings become dread, and parents are often left without a clear plan. The Compass gives families a calm, practical place to log what's happening, find strategies that work, and build evidence to share with school.
Our ethos
- Kindness first. No blame for parents. No shame for children.
- Evidence-informed. Drawn from attachment theory, co-regulation and school-based practice.
- Practical, not preachy. Real strategies for real Monday mornings.
- Privacy by design. Your journal is yours.
